Porn’s Third Dimension

Porn is gaining another dimension. At AVN’s Adult Entertainment Expo this week in Las Vegas, Southern California’s “Bad Girls in 3D” will be revealing its complete in-home digital 3D system to the public.

“For several decades, the adult entertainment industry has driven adoption of every significant new entertainment delivery system — the VHS home-video craze in the 1980s, the satellite television mania in the 1990s and the present day internet,” says Lance Johnson at Badgirlsin3d.com. “2010 and beyond will be all about 3D. Society’s enthusiasm for 3D films is largely responsible for the record $10 billion in box office revenues in 2009.”

In 1969, soft-core movie “The Stewardesses” was screened in cinemas over the course of two years and grossed over $27 million. Since then, technology has moved on immeasurably, with adult material at its forefront. Impressive new hardware will allow realistic three-dimensional images into the home and, as a result, there’s already an internet furore over proposed X-rated DVD extras for James Cameron’s “Avatar” where bug-eyed blue people will appear to have sex in your living room. Who wouldn’t want that?
