Q: Where’s the very last place on earth you’d expect to have found Ms Slide socialising this week?

A: The 90th Anniversary Celebration of the Surrey Federation of Women’s Institutes at Wisley Royal Horticultural Society Gardens.

We can offer no explanation for Ms Slide’s presence here, but as well as a lot of blue rinse warriors, she did encounter some wonderful circus performers on stilts, an incredibly supple woman dangling from the roof of a greenhouse, a number of terrifying scarecrows, and quite a lot more outfits made from PVC, faux fur, and feathers than she ever could have expected from the WI.
